The ‘Housing For All by 2022’ strategic plan is already halfway through. Since its declaration in 2014, a few plans have seen the light of day. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) that began in June 2015 was a huge step towards this path.

As of late, to further boost the interest in affordable housing, the Reserve Bank of India raised the housing loan limits under the priority sector lending (PSL) for economically weaker and lower income groups. With this, buyers in metropolitan cities can avail a home loan of up to Rs 35 Lakh as against up to Rs 28 Lakh before. Thus, in different urban areas, buyers can get credits up to Rs 25 Lakh as against Rs 20 Lakh before.

In a bid to supply convenience to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Ministry of Housing has launched a web portal – CLSS Awas Portal (CLAP), on November 25th, 2019. With the help of this portal, the candidates can track their application online. Once the application is approved, the applicant will take the documents to the bank to get the benefits of the scheme.

There are four elements under which the benefits are provided to the beneficiaries:

In-situ rehabilitation: Applicable for people who dwell in slums and don’t have a pucca house.
Beneficiary-led construction: Applicable for people who have their own land and need funds to construct/enhance their present home.
Credit-linked subsidy scheme (CLSS): This scheme is significantly for the mid-income groups (MIG).
Affordable housing in partnership: Applicable for people who neither have any land nor can afford a home equity credit.

How to apply?
The manualapproach:

Get registered with the scheme at Common Service Centers (CSCs) expedited by your state government. At this step, you’ve got to pay a registration fee of Rs 25 + GST.
While registering, ensure to fill in details like name, area, Aadhaar card details, and so on, in the form.
You will receive an application number after submitting the form, which can be used to track the application status.

The online approach:

 Login to http://pmaymis.gov.in/

  1. Choose ‘Citizen Assessment’ option from the menu bar
  2. Click one of the 2 options – Slum Dwellers / profit underneath different three elements
  3. Enter your Aadhaar details to proceed
  4. Fill in all the details in the form
  5. Save, print the application and track the application status with the application number

How to track your application status?

Are you an existing applicant of PMAY and looking to track your application status! Here’s a step-by-step guide

Step 1: Login to the official website of the PMAY

Step 2: Choose the ‘Citizen Assessment’ option from the menu bar

Step 3: Click on the ‘Track Your Assessment Status’ from the dropdown

Step 4: Once the option is selected, a page will open with two options — By Name, Father’s Name and ID Type or By Assessment ID

Step 5: Select the option of your choice to track your application status

Step 6: If choosing the first option, enter your state, city, district, your name, father’s name, ID type, and your registered phone number

Step 7: If you choose the assessment ID, you only have to type in your ID and registered phone number to track the status

Applicants can likewise refer to the frequently-asked-questions (FAQ) section on the official website of the PMAY. Ministry of Housing has also begun a helpline for the CLSS-related questions. Applicants can contact the National Housing Bank (NHB) or the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) on these toll free numbers.
